12-bit quad DAC in 28-SOIC — parallel interface, 10 µs settling
The DAC7725U is a 12-bit, quad-channel digital-to-analog converter from Texas Instruments, delivering four independent voltage-buffered outputs from a single 28-SOIC package (7.50 mm body width). Settling time is 10 µs to within 1/2 LSB for a full-scale step, making it suited for closed-loop control and multi-channel instrumentation where the update rate is in the tens of kilohertz. The R-2R ladder architecture with external reference keeps the noise floor lower than a multiplying DAC's internal reference path — the user picks the reference voltage that matches the output span.
Linearity and interface
INL is ±2 LSB max, DNL is ±1 LSB max — the DNL is monotonic by design, so the output never steps backward as the code increases, which matters for servo loops and ramp generation. Data interface is parallel (12-bit wide bus) — no serial protocol, so the host must have enough GPIO or a parallel port to drive the data and control lines at the update rate.
