Dual 16-bit current-source DAC with 10 ns settling
The DAC3482IZAYR from Texas Instruments is a dual 16-bit digital-to-analog converter using a current-source architecture with unbuffered current output. Its 10 ns typical settling time suits high-speed waveform generation, direct digital synthesis, and arbitrary waveform applications where the output must track fast updates without a buffer stage. The differential output enables driving balanced loads — common in RF transmit chains and I/Q modulator inputs — while rejecting common-mode noise picked up on the interconnect.
Supply rails and temperature range for system design
Analog supply is 3.14 V to 3.46 V; digital supply is 1.14 V to 1.32 V — separate rails mean the core logic can run from a lower-voltage domain while the analog output stage maintains headroom for the current-source compliance.
Housed in a 196-ball LFBGA (12x12 mm body per the supplier device package), the DAC3482IZAYR is surface-mount only. The 0.8 mm ball pitch requires a multi-layer PCB with via-in-pad or microvia fan-out for the inner rows. Cut Tape works for prototype or low-quantity kitting.
