14-bit dual DAC with 11 ns settling
The DAC3174IRGCT is a 14-bit dual current-output DAC from Texas Instruments, built on a Current Source architecture. It delivers two independent conversion channels, each settling to within 1 LSB in 11 ns typical — the update rate ceiling for a waveform generation or direct-digital-synthesis path. The data interface is LVDS parallel, which keeps the digital bus noise contained and supports the throughput the 11 ns settling time demands. Differential output is standard, so the signal chain can drive a transformer or differential amplifier without an external single-ended-to-differential stage.
Supply rails and reference flexibility
The DAC requires two analog supply domains — 1.71 V to 1.89 V for the core and 3.15 V to 3.45 V for the output stage — plus a separate digital supply at 1.71 V to 1.89 V. The dual-rail scheme lets the output swing track a higher-voltage reference while the digital core runs at low power. Both external and internal reference options are available, giving the board designer flexibility to share a system reference or use the on-chip bandgap. The INL is ±2 LSB and DNL is ±1 LSB, which sets the linearity floor for the signal chain.
Package and temperature grade
Housed in a 64-VFQFN with exposed pad (supplier package 64-VQFN 9x9 mm), the DAC3174IRGCT is a surface-mount part. The tape-and-reel packaging (also available in cut tape) suits both prototyping and production reels.
