10-bit register with 12.5 ns propagation delay
The CY74FCT821CTSOC is a 10-bit D-type flip-flop from Texas Instruments' 74FCT series, clocked on the positive edge and driving tri-state, non-inverted outputs. Its 12.5 ns max propagation delay at 5 V into 300 pF sets the timing budget for synchronous buses — at a 50 MHz clock, the delay consumes about 62.5% of the half-cycle window, leaving roughly 7.5 ns for setup and hold at the receiver.
Supply rails and output drive
The 32 mA source / 64 mA sink output drive is enough to fan out to ten LSTTL loads or drive a 50 Ω terminated line through a series resistor. Quiescent current is 200 µA typical — negligible for a 5 V register, but worth noting if the board is battery-backed and the flip-flop sits in a bank that stays powered during sleep. Input capacitance is 5 pF per pin, light enough that a 50 MHz clock source sees a manageable load when driving multiple registers on the same net.
Housed in a 24-pin SOIC with 7.50 mm body width, the package footprint is shared with many 8- to 10-bit bus-interface parts, so a layout swap to a different 24-SOIC register is often a straight BOM change.
