20-bit buffer with 3-state outputs — the drive current tells you where it fits
The CY74FCT16827ETPAC is a 20-bit non-inverting buffer from the FCT series, organized as two 10-bit elements. Each element drives 15 mA high and 64 mA low — that 64 mA sink is the spec that decides the load: it handles TTL/CMOS fan-out to multiple downstream gates or a heavily loaded bus line without needing an external line driver. The 3-state outputs let you wire-OR multiple buffers onto the same bus — the high-Z state isolates the disabled element so the active one drives the line cleanly.
Package and temperature — board-fit and environment
This covers factory-floor enclosures, outdoor telecom cabinets, and engine-bay-adjacent electronics that see 70°C steady-state with 85°C peaks. No derating needed at the top end for this logic family.
The part is RoHS non-compliant — the lead-bearing finish is intentional for high-reliability solder joints in industrial and aerospace assemblies where tin whisker risk is unacceptable.
