8-bit OTP controller for fixed-function embedded control
The COP8SGE728M8 is an 8-bit MCU from the COP8™ 8SG series with 8 KB of OTP program memory and 256 bytes of RAM — the program is written once at the factory and cannot be field-updated, which locks the firmware for the life of the product. Running at 15 MHz, the core executes a fixed control loop — a motor commutation sequence, a sensor polling cycle, or a simple UI handler — without the overhead of a real-time OS.
Peripheral set and I/O budget
24 general-purpose I/O pins in a 28-pin SOIC package — every pin except Vdd, Vss, and the oscillator pins is available as a GPIO or a peripheral signal. The Microwire/Plus (SPI) and UART/USART interfaces handle serial communication to sensors, displays, or a host controller.
Surface-mount assembly with an internal oscillator — no external crystal or ceramic resonator is needed for the core clock, saving two I/O pins and reducing BOM count.
