Each flip-flop has independent set (preset) and reset inputs, positive-edge clock triggering, and complementary Q and Q̅ outputs. It operates from a 4.5 V to 5.5 V supply and draws only 4 µA quiescent current.
50 MHz clock — timing budget for the bus
Rated at 50 MHz clock frequency, this flip-flop handles moderate-speed synchronous logic — state machines, address latching, or register pipelines in industrial controllers and telecom line cards. Propagation delay is 35 ns max at 4.5 V with a 50 pF load, which sets the hold-time margin for back-to-back flip-flop stages. At 15 MHz the DM7474N is a slower alternative, but the 74HCT's 50 MHz ceiling gives more headroom in the timing budget.
The 14-PDIP package (0.300" wide, 7.62 mm pitch) is socket-friendly for prototyping and field service.
It is also RoHS3 compliant.
