20-DIP footprint, 1 x 8:1 mux
The CD74HCT356E is a single 8:1 multiplexer from TI's 74HCT family, packaged in a 20-pin DIP (0.300" body width, 7.62 mm pitch). It routes one of eight data inputs to a single output, controlled by a 3-bit select bus. The HCT input thresholds are TTL-compatible, so this mux directly accepts 5 V logic from a 74LS or 74ACT driver without a level translator. Outputs source or sink 4 mA each, enough to drive one or two standard TTL loads or a CMOS input on the same rail.
Active production, ROHS3, through-hole
The 20-DIP through-hole package is a legacy footprint — no MSL floor-life concern, no bake required before reflow. The wide body (0.300") mates with standard 0.100" pitch sockets or wave-solder through the board.
