Quad buffer with 3-state control
The CD74HCT125M96 is a Texas Instruments 74HCT-series quad buffer with non-inverting logic and 3-state outputs. Each of the four elements handles one bit, giving you independent control over four signal paths from a single 14-SOIC package. Supply voltage spans 4.5V to 5.5V, matching standard 5V TTL and CMOS logic rails. The operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C covers industrial and military-grade environments — no derating needed for extended thermal cycling.
Output drive and signal integrity
Each output sources or sinks 6 mA, enough to drive a standard TTL load or a short PCB trace. The 3-state output lets you share a bus among multiple devices — when the output enable is inactive, the pin goes high-impedance and does not load the line. The 74HCT family is input-compatible with TTL levels while running on a CMOS supply, so this buffer bridges legacy 5V TTL logic to a CMOS backplane without a level translator.
Package and assembly fit
Housed in a 14-SOIC package (0.154-inch width, 3.90 mm body), the CD74HCT125M96 uses a standard surface-mount footprint common to many logic ICs. The supplier device package is also 14-SOIC, so the PCB land pattern is consistent across alternate sourcing. Available in Tape & Reel or Cut Tape — the reel option suits automated pick-and-place for volume assembly; Cut Tape works for prototypes or small-batch builds.
