Six inverters, one supply rail

It belongs to the 74HCT family — HCT logic is pin- and function-compatible with the 74LS series but runs on a single 5V rail with CMOS-level inputs. Supply range is 4.5V to 5.5V, and the full military temperature grade of -55°C to 125°C means this part survives thermal cycling in outdoor telecom cabinets, engine-bay controllers, or industrial sensor nodes without a grade downgrade.
19 ns propagation delay at 50 pF
Maximum propagation delay is 19 ns at 4.5V supply into a 50 pF load. That sets the practical toggle ceiling — at 5V the delay shrinks slightly, but the 19 ns figure is the worst-case number to budget for timing closure across temperature and voltage corners. Output drive is symmetrical at 4 mA sink and 4 mA source, enough to drive a single LS or HCT load plus a short PCB trace. The quiescent supply current maxes at 2 µA — negligible in battery-powered designs where the gate sits idle most of the time. Input logic thresholds are TTL-compatible: low at 0.8V max, high at 2V min. This lets the HCT04 directly interface with 5V TTL outputs without a level translator, though the input itself is CMOS and draws no DC current at steady state.

Texas Instruments lists the CD74HCT04M96 as Active with ROHS3 compliance. Supplied in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) format, 14-SOIC narrow-body (3.90 mm width). The surface-mount footprint matches industry-standard SOIC-14 land patterns, so no board respin is needed if migrating from a through-hole 74LS04 or a different SOIC-14 variant.
