BCD-to-7-segment driver for one-digit LED displays
The CD74HC4543E is a CMOS BCD-to-7-segment latch, decoder, and driver from the 74HC family, designed to drive a single common-cathode or common-anode LED digit. It accepts a 4-bit BCD input, latches it, decodes to a 7-segment pattern, and drives the segments directly. The 8 µA typical supply current makes it suitable for battery-powered or always-on display panels where every microamp counts.
2V to 6V supply and -55°C to 125°C temperature range
Rated for a supply range of 2V to 6V, this driver works from a single lithium cell or a regulated 5V rail. The -55°C to 125°C operating temperature covers military and industrial environments — avionics panels, outdoor telecom displays, or engine-bay instrumentation where commercial-grade parts would drift or fail.
Through-hole 16-DIP for prototyping and legacy sockets
Housed in a 16-pin DIP (0.300" width, 7.62 mm pitch), the CD74HC4543E fits standard breadboards, prototyping boards, and socketed production boards. The through-hole package simplifies hand-assembly and rework — no fine-pitch soldering, no stencil required. Supplier device package is 16-PDIP.
Active lifecycle — no obsolescence concern
Texas Instruments lists the CD74HC4543E as Active with ROHS3 compliance. There is no last-time-buy notice or NRND flag.
