16 analog channels in a 24-pin SSOP
The CD74HC4067SM96E4 is a single-pole 16-throw (SP16T) analog multiplexer/demultiplexer from Texas Instruments' 74HC logic family. It routes one of sixteen analog or digital signals to a common I/O pin, controlled by a 4-bit binary address. The 16:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer circuit handles both analog and digital signals up to the supply rails.
On-resistance and bandwidth — what they mean for signal integrity
Max on-resistance is 160 ohm, with channel-to-channel matching of 8.5 ohm. In a precision analog path, the voltage drop across the switch is I_load × R_on — at 1 mA load that is 160 mV lost. The matching figure tells you the gain error between channels stays within 8.5 ohm, which matters for multiplexed sensor arrays where channel-to-channel consistency is the spec. The -3 dB bandwidth is 89 MHz, so the part passes analog signals well into the video range and digital data at moderate clock rates. Switching times are 51 ns on, 49 ns off — fast enough for most data acquisition and control loops running below 5 MHz channel-switching rates. Off-channel leakage current is 800 nA max. In a high-impedance circuit like a pH probe or photodiode amplifier, that leakage can bias the measurement — budget it as a DC error term. Channel capacitance is 5 pF on the source side and 50 pF on the drain side, which limits the RC settling time when driving long traces or high-impedance loads.
