Dual 4:1 multiplexer — 2V to 6V supply, full military temp range
The Texas Instruments CD74HC253M is a dual 4:1 multiplexer from the 74HC family, packing two independent 4-input to 1-line selectors in a single 16-SOIC package. Each multiplexer selects one of four data sources based on a common select input, with an independent output-enable per channel. The part runs on a single supply from 2V to 6V, making it compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic systems alike. The full military temperature range of -55°C to 125°C qualifies it for avionics, satellite, downhole instrumentation, and outdoor industrial control where the ambient swings wide. The 74HC family's balanced 7.8mA source and sink drive handles standard CMOS fan-out and drives one or two LSTTL loads per output.
16-SOIC footprint and surface-mount assembly
Housed in a 16-SOIC package with 0.154" body width and 3.90mm pitch, the CD74HC253M is a standard surface-mount part that reflows on any conventional profile. The narrow SOIC footprint matches existing 74HC logic layouts, so a board already using 16-pin SOIC logic can drop this in without pad changes. MSL level is typical for 74HC logic — store in dry environment and bake if the moisture barrier bag has been breached.
Lifecycle and supply posture
The CD74HC253M carries an Active lifecycle status with ROHS3 compliance.
