Dual 4-input AND gate in 14-SOIC
The CD74HC21M is a dual 4-input AND gate from the 74HC CMOS logic family. Each of the two independent gates has four inputs, so the package delivers two 4-input AND functions in a single 14-SOIC footprint. Supply voltage spans 2V to 6V, covering both 3.3V and 5V logic rails without a separate level translator. The operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C suits industrial and automotive environments where the ambient sees extremes.
Propagation delay and output drive
Maximum propagation delay is 19 ns at 6V supply with a 50 pF load. This sets the data-rate ceiling — at 3.3V the delay increases, so budget the slower edge into the timing closure for mixed-voltage designs. Output sink and source current is 5.2 mA each, typical for the 74HC family. The 2 µA quiescent current keeps the static power draw negligible in battery-powered or always-on circuits.
Package and rework considerations
The 14-SOIC package (3.90 mm body width) has a 1.27 mm pin pitch — easy to hand-solder or hot-air rework without lifting pads. Pin 1 is marked by a notch and a dot on the top surface, so orientation is clear under a loupe. Tube packaging means the parts ship in anti-static tubes, not tape-and-reel. For pick-and-place, transfer to a feeder-compatible carrier is needed; for bench work, the tube keeps leads straight.
