The CD74AC374E is an 8-bit D-type flip-flop from the 74AC family, with tri-state non-inverted outputs and positive edge triggering. In a typical digital system, it captures the data bus state on each rising clock edge and holds it until the next edge, making it the register element in a pipeline or a parallel-output port.
Clock speed and propagation delay
Rated clock frequency of 125 MHz sets the maximum toggle rate for the register bank — above this the internal setup/hold margins collapse. The propagation delay is 10.8 ns max at 5 V into a 50 pF load, meaning the data at the output pins is valid 10.8 ns after the clock edge; this defines the timing budget for the downstream logic.
