What the 3V-18V supply range buys your design
The CD4508BM96 operates from 3V to 18V, which means it can sit on a 5V legacy bus or a 3.3V modern rail without a level translator. That single supply flexibility saves a buffer IC and two decoupling caps per board. Propagation delay is 50ns typical — fast enough for control handshakes and address latching at sub-10 MHz clock rates, but not for high-speed memory interfaces. Use it where the latch hold time matters more than the edge speed.
Temperature grade and environment
The 24-SOIC package (7.50 mm wide) handles the thermal expansion of a high-layer-count board better than narrower SOIC footprints.
Output drive and fan-out limits
Each output sources or sinks 6.8mA — enough to drive one standard CMOS load per channel, but not TTL. If your downstream logic is 74LS or 74F, add a buffer; the 74FCT573APC, by contrast, delivers 15mA and drives TTL directly, but it is through-hole and commercial temp only.
