Dual 4-input AND gate for wide-supply, harsh-environment logic
The Texas Instruments CD4082BMT is a dual 4-input AND gate from the 4000B series, in a 14-SOIC surface-mount package. It operates across a 3V to 18V supply range and is rated for -55°C to 125°C, suiting it for military, aerospace, and industrial control boards where supply rails are unregulated or battery-backed. The 4000B family is known for its ultra-low quiescent current — 1 µA max — making this gate a fit for power-sensitive and always-on logic sections.
90ns propagation delay — what it means for the bus
The 90ns max propagation delay at 15V, 50pF load sets the timing budget for cascaded gate stages. At lower supply voltages the delay increases, so for a 5V rail expect roughly 200ns — adequate for slow sensor polling, switch debounce, or control interlock logic, but not for high-speed clock distribution. The 3.4mA output drive is typical for the 4000B family and drives one or two CMOS loads per channel without buffering.
Mounting and handling
The 14-SOIC package fits standard surface-mount assembly. The -55°C to 125°C range exceeds typical industrial grade, so derating for high-temperature soak or cold-start is not a concern.
