4-bit D-type with tri-state bus hold
The CD4076BE is a single-element, 4-bit D-type flip-flop from the 4000B series, clocked on the positive edge with a tri-state, non-inverted output that lets multiple devices share a common bus line. It operates across a 3V to 18V supply range and clocks at 16 MHz, with a quiescent current of just 20 µA — typical for the 4000B family, which prioritises wide voltage tolerance over raw speed.
Wide temperature range and through-hole package
Rated for -55°C to 125°C ambient, the CD4076BE suits industrial or outdoor environments where the board sees thermal cycling — the 16-pin PDIP package (0.300-inch row spacing) is a through-hole footprint that survives hand-soldering rework and high-vibration backplanes without a socket. Propagation delay is 180 ns at 15V supply with a 50 pF load — the 4000B series is slower than the 74HC family, but the 3V-18V compliance means it can interface directly with 5V, 12V, or 15V logic rails without a level translator.
Active lifecycle and compliance
The 6.8 mA output current (both high and low) drives standard CMOS or TTL loads; the input capacitance of 5 pF keeps the clock line loading light even when multiple flip-flops share a bus.
