It operates across a 3V to 18V supply range, drawing a maximum quiescent current of 1 µA, and is rated over the full military temperature range of -55°C to 125°C. This makes it a straightforward choice for industrial control, automotive body electronics, and any system where the supply rail is not tightly regulated or where the board must survive wide thermal swings.
The 3V to 18V supply range is the headline feature of the 4000B family. Maximum propagation delay is 90 ns at 15V with a 50 pF load.
Temperature range and output drive
Output current is symmetrical at 3.4 mA source and sink — enough to drive a standard TTL input or a small LED, but not a relay coil directly. The input logic thresholds scale with supply: low from 1.5V to 4V, high from 3.5V to 11V, so the part interprets a 3.3V logic signal correctly when running from a 5V or 12V rail.
