Quad XOR gate in a 14-SOIC body
The CD4070BMT is a Texas Instruments 4000B-series CMOS quad 2-input XOR (exclusive OR) gate in a 14-SOIC package. It delivers four independent XOR functions on a single chip, each with two inputs, for general-purpose logic gating in mixed-voltage or high-temperature boards.
What the key ratings mean on the bench
Quiescent current maxes at 1 µA across the full supply range — the gate draws essentially nothing when idle, so it won't eat into a sleep-mode budget on a low-power sensor node or a coin-cell-powered data logger. Output drive is rated 3.4 mA source and sink at the same figure — symmetrical drive means the high and low edges into a 50 pF load have similar rise/fall times, which simplifies timing margin in a clock or data path. Propagation delay is 100 ns max at 15V with a 50 pF load, so this is a medium-speed CMOS gate, not a high-speed logic family. Input logic thresholds scale with supply: low-level threshold is 1.5V to 4V, high-level is 3.5V to 11V (at Vdd=10V). This means the gate interprets a 3.3V logic-high from a microcontroller as a valid '1' when running on a 5V or higher supply, but may not see it as a '1' at a 3V supply — check the threshold against your driver's Voh at the operating Vdd.
