Product details

The CD4043BPWR is a quad NOR R/S latch with tri-state outputs from the 4000B series. Its 3V to 18V supply range lets it run on the same rail as the rest of a 4000B logic family without a separate regulator — useful for battery-operated or mixed-voltage backplanes where a 5V or 12V bus is already present. At 125°C the CMOS leakage current rises, but the 4000B process holds static power well below bipolar logic.

Output drive and propagation delay — bus timing and fan-out

Each latch delivers 6.8mA source and sink — enough to drive one standard 4000B gate input or a low-power LED directly. The 50ns propagation delay sets the maximum cascaded clock rate around 10 MHz; above that the bus turnaround time eats into the setup margin. The tri-state output allows multiple CD4043BPWR devices to share a common data bus without contention — the enable signal disconnects the latch from the line, which is the standard method for multiplexed register banks.

Package, lifecycle, and sourcing posture

The CD4043BPWR is in a 16-TSSOP package. The supplier device package is 16-TSSOP.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between CD4043BPWR and CD4043BE?

The CD4043BPWR is the surface-mount 16-TSSOP variant, while the CD4043BE is the through-hole 16-DIP version. The electrical specs — supply range, propagation delay, output drive — are identical across the two packages. The TSSOP saves board area but requires a finer-pitch solder process.
