Quad AND/OR select gate in 16-SOIC
The CD4019BM is a quad AND/OR select gate from Texas Instruments' 4000B series, in a 16-SOIC surface-mount package. Each of the four independent circuits accepts two inputs and delivers a single-ended output, with the logic function (AND or OR) selected by a control pin — a single IC handles both gating modes in one footprint.
Output drive and temperature margin
Each output sources or sinks 6.8 mA (at VDD = 10 V, typical), enough to drive a standard CMOS logic input or a low-power LED indicator directly. The symmetrical drive current simplifies fan-out calculations — the same 6.8 mA figure applies to both high and low states. For a control board that sees -40°C startup or 105°C in an enclosure, the CD4019BM stays within its rated parametric limits without derating. No Schmitt-trigger input is built in — the gate switches at standard CMOS thresholds (roughly 1/2 VDD). For noisy lines or slow edges, an external Schmitt buffer or RC filter ahead of the input is needed to avoid multiple transitions.
