Six Schmitt trigger inverters in a wide-voltage 14-TSSOP
The Texas Instruments CD40106BPWR packs six independent inverter gates with Schmitt trigger inputs into a 14-TSSOP package, part of the classic 4000B CMOS logic family. Each channel accepts a single input and delivers a clean inverted output, with built-in hysteresis that rejects noise on slow or bouncy signals.
That is an order of magnitude slower than a modern 74HCS04 (16 ns at 6 V), so this part is not for high-speed clock trees or fast data paths. It belongs where the signal is slow and noisy — debouncing a mechanical switch, squaring up a 50/60 Hz zero-cross detect, or conditioning a sensor output that changes at millisecond rates. The trade-off is the wide supply tolerance and the full military temperature range that faster families often lack.
The 14-TSSOP package is small enough for dense layouts but still hand-reworkable with hot air if you keep the profile under 260°C peak — the lead pitch is 0.65 mm, so a fine tip and steady hands matter more than a preheater.
The 4000B series has been in continuous production for decades, and this TSSOP variant remains a standard catalog item.
