Automotive-grade 74AHCT buffer for 5V logic buses
The two elements each buffer four bits, giving you an 8-bit wide bus driver in a single 20-SOIC package.
Each output sources or sinks 8 mA, which is the standard drive strength for the 74AHCT family. That is enough to drive a few CMOS logic inputs or a short PCB trace, but not a long backplane or a high-capacitance load like a relay coil. If your downstream load needs more than 8 mA per line, you will need a separate line driver or a higher-drive part like the SN74LVTH16245ADGVR which offers 32 mA per channel. The 3-state outputs let you share the bus with other drivers — when the output enable is deasserted, the pins go high-impedance and the bus floats.
Temperature range and automotive qualification
If you are designing for a passenger cabin application that only needs 85°C, this part still works, but you are paying for the wider range.
Lifecycle and sourcing
If you need a cross-reference for spot-buying, the SN74AHCT244 from TI is the same function in the same package — just verify the temperature grade matches your BOM requirement.
