Battery protection for 2-5 cell Li-Ion stacks
The Texas Instruments BQ771808DPJR is a Li-Ion battery protection IC that monitors and protects 2 to 5 series-connected cells against over-voltage faults. It operates over a -40°C to 110°C temperature range.
Over-voltage protection — what it covers and what it doesn't
This part provides over-voltage fault protection only. It does not include over-current, short-circuit, or under-voltage detection. For a BOM that needs comprehensive protection (over-current, short, temperature), you would pair this with a separate protector or fuel gauge. The 2-5 cell range gives flexibility across different series-stack configurations, but the protection scope is narrow — design the rest of the safety chain accordingly.
Package and mounting
Surface-mount package with exposed pad (8-WSON 3x4). The exposed pad must be soldered to a thermal land on the PCB for rated dissipation. Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) options available.
Lifecycle and compliance
ROHS3 compliant. No known PCN for this order code.
