Over-voltage watchdog for 2–4 cell Li-ion packs
The Texas Instruments BQ296112DSGT is a dedicated battery protection IC for lithium-ion packs of 2 to 4 series cells. Its sole fault-protection function is over-voltage monitoring — it pulls the discharge FET gate low when any cell exceeds the factory-set threshold. There is no integrated over-current, short-circuit, or over-temperature detection; those must be handled by an external gauge or separate protector. The device operates across -40°C to 110°C, covering industrial and automotive cabin environments.
