2-4 cell Li-ion over-voltage monitor
The BQ294702DSGT is a dedicated battery protection IC from Texas Instruments that monitors 2 to 4 series-connected lithium-ion cells for over-voltage conditions. It triggers a fault output when any cell exceeds the over-voltage threshold, giving the system controller or charge FET a signal to interrupt charging. The part is housed in an 8-WFDFN with exposed pad (supplier device package 8-WSON, 2x2 mm), a compact footprint suited for space-constrained battery pack PCBs where board area is at a premium.
Temperature range and deployment context
Rated for -40°C to 110°C ambient, the BQ294702DSGT covers the full operating envelope of consumer, industrial, and some automotive-grade battery packs. The 110°C upper limit provides margin above typical 85°C pack interiors, important when cells are under fast-charge or in a sealed enclosure. Surface-mount assembly on the 8-WSON package follows standard lead-free reflow profiles.
