Single-cell fuel gauge with integrated protection
The Texas Instruments BQ27742YZFR-G1 is a multi-function controller designed as a battery fuel gauge for single-cell Lithium Ion packs. It communicates over HDQ or I2C, and integrates overcurrent, over/under voltage, and short-circuit fault protection to reduce external component count.
Temperature range and application environment
The 15-DSBGA is a fine-pitch wafer-level package with no exposed thermal pad. Reflow profile follows standard BGA guidelines; X-ray inspection is recommended after assembly to confirm solder-joint integrity. The small footprint (approx 2.5 mm²) means decoupling caps sit tight — plan for 0402 or 0201 passives on the same side.
