What the I²C interface and single-cell rating mean for the BOM
The I²C bus is the only host interface — no SMBus or HDQ variant here. That means the host firmware needs an I²C driver and the bus pull-up resistors must be sized for the DSBGA package's signal integrity at the board layout stage. The single-cell rating limits the part to packs with one series Li-Ion cell; a 2S or 4S pack requires a different gauge such as the BQ2084 family. Operating temperature from -40°C to 85°C covers cold-crank and hot-sun scenarios for handheld tools and outdoor data loggers, but the part does not carry AEC-Q100 qualification — if the application is under-hood automotive or a 125°C engine bay, the BQ79612PAPRQ1 is the functional-safety-graded sibling to look at.
