The BQ27425YZFT-G1 is a single-cell battery monitor using Texas Instruments' Impedance Track algorithm to report remaining capacity and state-of-charge. Unlike a simple voltage-based gauge, it learns the cell's impedance over temperature and aging, so the reported charge stays accurate as the pack degrades.

Can BQ27425YZFT-G1 be used with Li-ion cells?

Yes, but only with Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LiCoO2) chemistry, which is the standard cathode in most single-cell Li-ion packs. It will not gauge LiFePO4 or LMO cells correctly because the algorithm expects the voltage-capacity curve of LiCoO2.
