Single-cell LiCoO₂ fuel gauge with Impedance Track
Unlike a simple voltage-based coulomb counter, Impedance Track continuously learns the battery's impedance profile across temperature and load, so the remaining-capacity estimate stays accurate as the cell ages. It communicates over an I²C interface to the host MCU, reporting voltage, current, temperature, state of charge, and remaining capacity.
12-SON package — rework and layout notes
The BQ27410DRZT-G1 comes in a 12-VFDFN exposed-pad package, supplier code 12-SON (2.5x4 mm). That exposed pad is the thermal and electrical ground — it needs a solid via-stitched copper pour on the top layer, and the datasheet's recommended footprint is tight. For rework: the small body and exposed pad make it a hot-air job. Tack the corner pins first to align, then flow the pad with a hot-air nozzle at 300°C. Will it survive the hot air? Yes, if the board copper doesn't act as a heat sink.
The base product number is BQ27410, so any future variant shifts (package or tape orientation) will carry a different suffix, not a die change.
