Single-cell Li-Ion fuel gauge in a 3×4 mm VSON
The Texas Instruments BQ27000DRKR is a single-cell battery monitor from the bqJUNIOR series, designed for Li-Ion and Li-Polymer packs. It communicates over an I²C interface and comes in a 10-VSON (3x4) package with an exposed thermal pad. This part monitors one cell only — if you are sizing for a 2-series stack, this is not the right monitor. The I²C bus lets a host MCU read voltage, temperature, and remaining capacity without an extra ADC channel.
NRND — plan the last-time buy now
That means TI is not actively promoting it for new projects, and a last-time-buy window is the typical next step. If you have this on a current BOM, secure your bridge quantity and start qualifying a replacement. A pin-compatible second source is not documented either — the replacement path will require a layout review and firmware port.
Temperature grade and package rework
Operating temperature spans -20°C to 70°C — a commercial-grade range that suits portable consumer devices, handheld instruments, and indoor battery-bank monitoring. Not rated for automotive or industrial enclosures where ambient exceeds 70°C. Rework is manageable with a hot-air station if the pad is properly tinned — the part is small enough that the pad wets quickly, but the 0.5 mm pitch demands a steady hand and a fine tip for alignment.
