6 A fast-charge IC — single-cell, I²C-controlled
The battery pack voltage is regulated to 4.775 V, which covers single-cell Li-ion and Li-polymer cells with 4.2 V or 4.4 V termination voltages; a 2-cell stack is outside the compliance range. An I²C interface provides programmable charge current, termination threshold, and status monitoring — no external resistors for current setting, which saves board space but adds a firmware dependency.
Industrial temperature grade and fault protection
Fault protection includes over-voltage and short-circuit detection; the IC enters a safe state without latch-up, and the I²C bus reports the fault condition to the host controller. The 14 V maximum supply voltage gives headroom for a 5 V USB-C input or a 9 V wall adapter — the input over-voltage threshold is set internally, so no external OVP clamp is required for input rails below 14 V.
Package — 36-DSBGA footprint and assembly
Supplied in a 36-DSBGA package measuring 2.63 mm x 2.46 mm — the 0.4 mm ball pitch typical for this package requires a 4-layer or higher PCB with microvias for fan-out; two-layer boards will struggle to route all signals.
