3 A I²C-controlled single-cell charger
The Texas Instruments BQ25896RTWT is a 1-cell Li-Ion/Polymer battery charger from the MaxCharge™ series, delivering up to 3 A charge current via an I²C-programmable interface. The 14 V max supply voltage covers common USB and adapter rails, and the 24-WQFN (4x4 mm) package with exposed pad keeps the power loop tight for thermal transfer.
Charge current and input range
Rated for 3 A maximum charge current, this part handles fast charging for a single-cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer pack. The 14 V input ceiling lets it work from 5 V USB, 9 V Quick Charge adapters, or unregulated 12 V supplies without an external pre-regulator. The I²C interface gives the host microcontroller control over charge current, termination voltage, and input current limit — no external resistors to swap for different battery profiles.
Protection and temperature grade
Built-in fault protection covers over-current and over-temperature conditions, so the charger shuts down before the pass FET or battery sees stress.
Housed in a 24-WFQFN with exposed pad, the 4x4 mm footprint keeps the charger compact for space-constrained designs.
