Single-cell Li-Ion charger with 5A fast-charge capability
The Texas Instruments BQ25895RTWR is a MaxCharge™ single-cell Li-Ion/Polymer battery charger IC. It delivers a maximum charge current of 5A.
Charge current and thermal design
The over-temperature fault protection provides a hardware safety net if the thermal design is marginal. For designs that do not need the full 5A, the I2C register can lower the charge current to reduce thermal stress.
Interface and control
The I2C interface is the primary control path — it sets the charge voltage, charge current, input current limit, and termination threshold. USB support handles input current negotiation.
It is ROHS3 compliant. For dual-sourcing or second-source evaluation, TI's BQ25895 family shares the same base product number and pinout across the RTWR and similar suffix variants — verify the specific variant's charge current and I2C address against your BOM before substituting.
