Multi-chemistry battery monitor with integrated fault protection
The Texas Instruments BQ25700ARSNR is a battery monitor IC supporting multi-chemistry packs from 1 to 4 series cells. It communicates over I²C and integrates over-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature fault protection — reducing the external supervisor BOM for portable and embedded systems.
The 1-4 cell range covers single-cell handhelds up to 4S power-tool or medical packs. Multi-chemistry support means the same PCB layout works for Li-ion, LiFePO₄, or NiMH — no hardware spin for a chemistry swap. That flexibility saves a separate charger monitor variant per product line.
I²C interface and fault protection
The I²C interface lets the system MCU read cell voltages, temperature, and fault flags over a two-wire bus without dedicated ADC pins. Integrated over-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature protection means the monitor can trip independently — the host reads the fault register rather than needing a separate comparator chain.
Industrial temperature range, active lifecycle
ROHS3 compliant. Current production means it qualifies for new designs without supply-risk qualification.
Housed in a 32-WFQFN with exposed pad (32-QFN 4x4 mm). Surface-mount only.
