The BQ25616JRTWR: ROHS3 compliant.
3A charge current and 13.5V input ceiling
Supply voltage max is 13.5V, which covers USB VBUS (5V), USB-C PD up to 9V, and common 12V wall adapters. The input OVP fault protection kicks in above that ceiling, so the part survives adapter spikes without external clamp diodes.
Industrial temp range and package thermal path
That means the charger can live in an outdoor enclosure, a garage EVSE, or a portable tool battery pack without derating for ambient heat. Housed in a 24-WQFN with exposed pad, 4x4 mm body. No lab bench needed — a reflow profile for standard lead-free solder works.
USB interface and programmable current
The interface is USB, meaning it handles the enumeration and current negotiation typical of USB battery chargers — no external microcontroller needed for basic charge management. Charge current is programmable via an external resistor. The datasheet provides the resistor value vs. current table; a single resistor sets the constant-current phase. No I2C or SMBus required.
