Product details

3 A through a 30-ball DSBGA — thermal planning is non-negotiable

The BQ25600DYFFR is a single-cell Li-ion/Polymer linear charger from TI that pushes up to 3 A constant current into the battery pack, all through a 30-ball DSBGA package.

I²C programmability — the host decides the charge profile

Charge current is programmable via I²C, not a fixed resistor. That lets the system MCU adjust the charge rate on the fly — useful for thermal throttling when the board is in a sealed enclosure, or for charging from a current-limited USB source. The constant-current algorithm is the only programmable feature listed; termination voltage is fixed at 4.62 V max. Fault protection is built in: over-current, over-temperature, and over-voltage. No external comparator or supervisor needed for basic protection.

Industrial temperature range — not for the engine bay

It fits outdoor IoT nodes, portable medical gear, and automotive cabin modules — but not under-hood or downhole applications where the operating temperature exceeds 85°C.

This is a current-production part, not a surplus scavenge.

Frequently asked questions

Is BQ25600DYFFR compatible with LiFePO4 batteries?

No — the listed battery chemistry is Lithium Ion/Polymer, and the termination voltage is 4.62 V max. LiFePO4 cells typically terminate at 3.6 V per cell, which is well outside this part's fixed voltage ceiling.
