Active-production 1-cell charger with I²C control

Charge current and protection envelope
Maximum charge current is 500 mA (cite:) — this sets the charge time for a typical 500 mAh cell to roughly one hour at the constant-current phase. The IC integrates fault protection against overcurrent, overtemperature, overvoltage, reverse current, and short circuit (cite:), so the BOM does not need external protection diodes or current-limit resistors.

The 20-DSBGA package (cite:) measures roughly 2.0 mm × 1.5 mm — a 0.5 mm pitch BGA that requires a 4-layer board for fan-out and a controlled reflow profile. The small footprint suits space-constrained wearable or IoT designs, but the BGA means rework is more involved than a leaded package.
