Single-cell linear charger with I²C programmability
The Texas Instruments BQ25121AYFPR is a single-cell linear battery charger IC designed for multi-chemistry cells. It delivers a constant charge current up to 300 mA and regulates the battery pack voltage to 4.65 V. The charge parameters — current, timer, and voltage — are programmable via the I²C interface, giving the designer control over the charge profile without external resistor networks.
Built-in fault protection reduces external BOM
Over-current, over-voltage, and short-circuit protection are integrated on-chip, eliminating the need for discrete protection components on the charge path. This simplifies the PCB layout and shrinks the solution footprint for space-constrained designs like wearables or IoT modules.
