300 mA I²C-programmable linear charger for single-cell Li-ion packs
The Texas Instruments BQ25120AYFPT is a single-cell Li-Ion/Polymer linear battery charger with a maximum charge current of 300 mA, controlled via an I²C interface. It integrates over-temperature, over-voltage, and short-circuit fault protection, reducing the external component count for a compact charging solution. The 25-DSBGA package suits space-constrained portable designs where board area is at a premium.
Charge current ceiling and programmable control
The 300 mA charge current ceiling is set by the constant-current programmable feature, adjustable via the I²C bus from the host microcontroller. This allows the system to trade off charge speed against thermal budget in real time — useful in a sealed enclosure where junction temperature at the 25-DSBGA package limits dissipation. The battery pack voltage is fixed at 4.2 V, standard for a single Li-ion cell. Supply voltage maxes out at 5.5 V.
Package and mounting: 25-DSBGA land pattern
The 25-DSBGA package requires a surface-mount assembly process with a solder-paste stencil matched to the bump geometry.
