Multi-chemistry charger with SMBus control
The BQ24780SRUYR: This is a multi-chemistry battery charger IC that handles 1 to 4 series cells via an SMBus interface, giving the system host direct control over charge voltage, current, and termination thresholds. The 24 V max supply voltage covers common notebook and portable equipment rails — 2S through 4S Li-ion packs are within reach without an external pre-regulator.
Fault protection set and temperature grade
On-chip fault protection covers overcurrent, overvoltage, and short-circuit conditions — the charger enters a safe state without relying on the host controller.
Housed in a 28-WFQFN with exposed pad (4x4 mm body), the BQ24780SRUYR uses the pad as the primary thermal path.
