Last-buy charger IC for 2- to 4-cell multi-chemistry packs
The Texas Instruments BQ24765RUVT is a multi-chemistry battery charger IC in a 34-VFQFN Exposed Pad package (7x3.5 mm). It handles 2 to 4 series cells with a programmable constant charge current up to 8.064 A max and a battery pack voltage of 19.2 V max.
Charge current and voltage limits
The 8.064 A max charge current is programmable via the I2C interface, letting you set the constant-current taper point for the specific cell capacity. The 19.2 V max battery pack voltage covers 4-series Li-ion (16.8 V) with margin for the CV regulation tail. Supply voltage maxes at 24 V, so the input rail must stay below that — a 19 V adapter common for 4-cell bricks leaves 5 V headroom, but a 24 V supply runs at the absolute limit and needs a TVS clamp on the input.
Fault protection and temperature range
Built-in over-current and over-temperature fault protection covers the charger against a shorted cell or a blocked vent.
