Multi-chemistry charger for 2 to 4 series cells
The Texas Instruments BQ24753RHDT is a multi-chemistry battery charger IC handling 2 to 4 series cells with a programmable constant-current charge up to 10 A max. It accepts a supply voltage up to 24 V and integrates over-current and over-voltage fault protection, reducing external supervisor count on the power path.
Charge current and thermal budget
The 10 A max charge current sets the power-stage MOSFET and inductor selection — at 18 V battery pack voltage that is 180 W delivered. At high charge rates the board copper area becomes the limiting thermal resistance.
Fault protection and voltage ceiling
Built-in over-current and over-voltage protection covers the common failure modes on a multi-cell charger — no need for an external comparator or supervisor on the output rail. The 18.048 V max battery pack voltage matches a 4-series Li-ion stack (4.2 V/cell × 4 = 16.8 V nominal, 18.048 V is the charge ceiling). The 24 V supply max leaves headroom for a 19 V to 20 V adapter common in notebook and industrial battery designs.
Package and sourcing
The supplier device package is 28-VQFN (5x5 mm).
