10A multi-chemistry charger for 2-4 cell packs
The BQ24751ARHDT from Texas Instruments is a multi-chemistry battery charger IC designed for 2 to 4 series-cell Li-ion, Li-polymer, or other battery chemistries. It delivers a programmable constant charge current up to 10A, making it a fit for high-capacity battery packs in notebooks, portable instruments, and industrial equipment. The 24V max supply voltage covers the typical adapter rail for these applications.
The 10A max charge current is the headline number — it sets the MOSFET Rds(on) budget, inductor saturation current, and PCB copper pour for the charger's buck converter stage. The 24V supply ceiling means the input adapter can be a standard 19V notebook brick with margin for transients. Over-current and over-voltage fault protection are integrated, so the external protection circuit can be minimal — just the input fuse and output cap.
Package and footprint for layout
The exposed pad is the main thermal path — without a solid copper pour and enough vias, the 10A charge current will push the junction above the 125°C limit at high ambient. Surface mount only; the Tape & Reel (TR) packaging suits automated pick-and-place.
