Charge current, pack voltage, and thermal envelope
The 10A charge current ceiling means the IC can handle high-capacity battery stacks — think 4S Li-ion packs in the 60–100 Wh range — without needing an external pass FET for the charge path. Pack voltage tops at 18.048V, which covers a fully charged 4S Li-ion string at 16.8V with margin, or a 3S LiFePO4 stack at 10.8V nominal. The 24V maximum supply input gives headroom for a 19–20 V adapter rail; the IC drops the input to the programmed pack voltage through an integrated buck converter topology.
Fault coverage and chemistry flexibility
Built-in over-current and over-voltage protection means the IC can shut down the charge cycle without relying on the host microcontroller to monitor the rail — useful for standalone charger designs or as a safety monitor in a supervised system. Multi-chemistry support (Li-ion, LiFePO4, NiMH, lead-acid) is handled by the programmable charge voltage and current registers; the same BOM can serve different battery types by changing firmware constants.
