8.064 A charge current — sizing the power stage
The BQ24745RHDRG4 is a multi-chemistry battery charger IC from Texas Instruments that handles 2 to 4 series cells with a programmable constant-current charge up to 8.064 A. That 8.064 A ceiling sets the inductor and FET selection — the power stage must be rated for continuous current above that level with margin for the charge profile. The I²C interface lets the host controller set the charge current, voltage thresholds, and input current limit without external resistor dividers.
