Charger architecture and cell support
The BQ24735RGRT: This is a multi-chemistry battery charger IC supporting 1 to 4 series cells, with a battery pack voltage up to 16.8 V — covering the range from single-cell Li-ion handhelds through 4-cell notebook packs. The I²C interface gives the host controller programmable access to charge current, charge voltage, input current limit, and system status registers — no external potentiometers or resistor dividers for setpoint adjustment. Maximum supply voltage is 24 V, which comfortably handles common AC/DC adapters rated at 19 V or 20 V used in notebook and portable equipment designs.
Protection and temperature grade
Integrated fault protection covers over-current, over-voltage, and short-circuit conditions — these are latched protections that reduce the need for external supervisory ICs in the charging path.
