The Texas Instruments BQ24725ARGRR is a Li-Ion battery charger controller for 1 to 4 series cells, communicating over an I²C bus for charge parameter programming. It integrates over-current, over-voltage, and short-circuit protection, reducing external monitoring circuitry. The part targets portable electronics, notebooks, and industrial handhelds where the host microcontroller manages the charge profile via the SMBus/I²C interface.
The pad needs a via array to the ground plane for thermal relief — without it, the junction temperature climbs fast at higher charge currents. Clean the pad, apply fresh solder paste, and reflow. The orientation mark is at pin 1 (A1 corner), visible under magnification.
Supply voltage and cell-count flexibility
The charger accepts a maximum supply of 24 V and handles battery packs up to 19.2 V, covering 1S through 4S Li-Ion configurations.
