24V input ceiling and 2-3 cell charge count
The BQ24715RGRT: Maximum supply voltage is 24 V, which sets the input rail limit for the charger front end. The part supports 2 to 3 series Li-ion cells.
SMBus interface — host-controlled charging
Communication runs over SMBus, meaning charge current, voltage thresholds, and termination are set by the system host, not by resistor dividers. That buys flexibility in firmware but adds a dependency on the EC or embedded controller having an SMBus port. If you need a standalone charger with pin-strap configuration, this is not the part.
20-VQFN package — thermal pad layout
Housed in a 20-VQFN (3.5x3.5 mm) with an exposed thermal pad. The datasheet layout recommendation is worth following — skipping the thermal vias will cost you derating.
